Chase, J.P. Morgan’s consumer and commercial banking unit, launched a new job site this week. It features the usual – job descriptions, video testimonials and information on diversity – but also includes some unique resources like sample interview questions, application tips and specifics on benefits.
The site currently has well over 4,000 open positions globally. We talked to Susan Mason, managing director of Chase Recruiting, to get a better idea of what they’re looking for.
How many current job openings does Chase have?
At Chase we have over 4,000 job openings across 15 job areas.
What are your hottest job areas?
Relationship Management/Sales: Two crucial hiring roles in this area right now are the Chase Private Client Banker and Chase Wealth Management Financial Advisors. These roles are both focused on providing a superior experience for affluent clients by working as a part of an integrated team to provide comprehensive services – from banking to investment strategy.
Branch Banking: Roles in this area range from branch manager to teller to personal banker. Our ideal candidate should have a friendly, engaging personality, strong listening and communication skills and look forward to establishing relationships with each customer.
With new regulations pending and market dynamics changing, where do you see Chase doing the most sustained hiring over the next few years?
We will continue to hire individuals with strong technical skills, compliance and risk experience and licenses such as Series 6, 63 and 7. Additionally, we are always looking for bilingual skills to assist our diverse consumer base. We also have a strong commitment across JPMorgan Chase to hiring our military veterans and transitioning service members. Overall, though, we look to hire people with strong customer centricity and an eagerness to help our clients.
In terms of locales, where are the most number of job opportunities, U.S. and overseas?
While we do have a few international jobs, Chase is mainly a U.S. focused company – with job openings across the country – and likely in your neighborhood Chase branch. Our new search page allows you to search by zip code, so you can very quickly see what’s open in your area.
Any tips that you can provide to prospective Chase candidates? What are the keys to landing work at Chase?
Absolutely. We have two dedicated pages on the website with tips to help navigate the application and interview process. We wanted to make sure that we are able to provide you with everything you need to get prepared – from our latest press releases to the stock price and even some sample questions to help you get ready for the interview.
We have a large MBA readership. Are there any open roles that would likely interest them?
Certainly. Our Chase Leadership Development Program (CLDP) Associate position is a full-time opportunity specifically designed to develop MBA candidates into future business leaders within our Consumer and Community Banking. Associates work in disciplines such as product development, risk management, portfolio or relationship management, branding, digital, mobile or social media marketing. Tell me a little bit about the new career site. Why the re-launch? What new features are available?
Chase has never had a standalone careers website. Our goal in building Chase.com/careers is to give candidates a clear look at what it’s like to work in the bank.
