Equity Research Pay

Bank note background

Back in the 'good' old days, equity researcher who gained 'star' status could easily bring in millions as banks battled to keep hold of talent. These days, pay is back in the realms of normality.

In fact, equity research tends to pay less than most other front office investment banking jobs, but it’s still not an insignificant amount to be bringing in each year. At the top, it’s possible to earn $900k working in equity research, according to figures provided by executive search firm Options Group. While base salaries remain similar to most other client-facing roles in the sector, smaller bonuses means that equity research still lags trading and roles in the investment banking division (IBD).

Bonuses slipped by 5% on last year, the figures suggest.
