If you work for Goldman Sachs, you won't just be paid well and feel empowered when you look at your business card. You will also receive help from the firm in raising your family. This extends to ensuring your kids do well at school and get into top colleges when it comes to attending university.
The assistance Goldman extends to employees' children is detailed in the firm's new sustainability report for 2018. Alongside its known benefits like breast milk shipping and fertility counseling, Goldman's U.S. staff are also given access to a service called 'College Coach', which does what the name implies and helps their school-age children get into college.
Goldman declined to comment on the service, which is understood to include a curriculum planning tool to help employees' children decide which subjects to study, help with the college application process, and even an essay review service.
College Coach also provides services to private individuals. On its own website, the company claims that 96% of the students using its services get into one of their top choice schools and that its students are accepted to Ivy League Schools at double the average rate.
Given the febrile atmosphere in the U.S. following the college admissions scandal, it might be presumed that services which help elite offspring into top schools would be frowned upon. However, it's not clear how long Goldman has been offering the College Coach service for and employees' children will still be required to meet the application requirements for the colleges they apply to. If you're a hard-working Goldman employee without time to help your children the service will undoubtedly be beneficial.
Less controversially, the firm also offers a kind of concierge service which will help organize children's birthday parties.
