There's not actually that much hiring in Hong Kong

Bright lights, big contracts

Banks don’t advertise all their vacancies on their own websites. Some advertise only operations positions; others advertise openings for traders and investment bankers. Nevertheless, the number of vacancies on banks’ own careers sites can be taken as an indication of their enthusiasm for adding headcount.

On this basis, the biggest big recruiter in the UK right now is JPMorgan: it has 167 open positions. The smallest recruiter is UBS: it’s only advertising 37 UK-based roles.

Here, on a bank-by-bank basis is what banks’ own recruitment websites suggest about their current hiring intentions in Europe and Asia.

Notably, there still appears to be almost as much hiring in London as the Asia-Pacific region as a whole.

Bank of America

Number of open vacancies in the UK: 65 vacancies in the UK, of which 43 are in London (the remainder being in Chester, Bromley and Croydon).

Number of open vacancies in Singapore, Hong Kong and China: 26 in Singapore, 26 in Hong Kong, 11 in China.

Most interesting job currently advertised in EMEA: VP corporate equity derivatives structuring, based in London with an emerging markets focus.

Citi says it set up its CVA team in 2008 and now wants a CVA market risk analyst with, a “good understanding of product characteristics, pricing methods and hedging techniques for vanilla and exotic derivatives.”
