You would not want to be looking for a job in equity sales in London now. On the other hand, despite presentiments that M&A redundancies might be coming, you would want to be looking for a job as an associate in M&A.
This is what our analysis suggests.
We’ve looked at the number of UK based CVs containing popular job titles that have been loaded into our CV database over the past three months, and then compared these to the number of jobs being advertised on eFinancialCareers at this particular point in time.
The results are presented in the chart below.
Conclusion: equity salespeople, credit researchers, equity traders, commodities traders, credit traders and credit researchers are not hot; M&A associates, fund marketers, product controllers, regulatory risk professionals and risk managers are hot. The rest are somewhere in between.
