Strutt is currently group chairman and managing director of Jardine Fleming Holdings in Hong Kong and will return to London in July. He has been with Jardine Fleming since 1979. Taylor is currently a director of Robert Fleming Holdings and head of corporate finance. He joined Flemings in April 1994 from Baring Brothers, where he was co-head of mergers and acquisitions. Anthony McGrath replaces Taylor as head of corporate finance. The firm also announced that Adam Fleming has retired as deputy chairman and director. He is replaced by his younger brother Roddie Fleming, a director in corporate finance, and Lord Renwick, the former UK ambassador to Washington and Pretoria, as joint deputy chairmen. Philip Fleming has also joined the board to keep up the Fleming family’s representation at two board members. Tim Freshwater, currently deputy chairman of Jardine Fleming, has been promoted to chairman and will be responsible for further growth of the firm’s business in Asia. On the asset management side, Tony Robinson has been promoted to chief investment officer, while Clive Brown will take over as director of finance and operations from Tony Doggart, who will retire in October. William Harrison, 55, has succeeded Walter Shipley as chief executive of Chase Manhattan. Harrison, who has headed worldwide commercial banking, which includes investment banking, capital markets and trading, since 1987, will also replace Thomas Labrecque, 60, who is retiring, as president of the bank. Shipley continues as chairman. John Hodson will become chairman of Singer & Friedlander when Anthony Solomons, who has worked at the bank for 40 years, retires at the end of the year. Hodson will also continue in his role as chief executive. Solomons has been chairman of the bank for the past 23 years. Non-executive Harry Djanogly has been appointed deputy chairman, while Michael Gibbins has been named chief operating officer and group finance director. Jonathan Howell, head of market regulation and enforcement at the London Stock Exchange and a member of the management committee, has been appointed to the LSE board. Howell, 36, joined the LSE from PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1996 where he was a director of forensic services. John Andrews has been appointed director of investor relations at Goldman Sachs in the run up to the bank’s IPO, due in the next few months. Andrews previously ran Morgan Stanley’s investor relations.
