The universities to study at if you want a job at Deloitte, EY, KPMG or PwC in Asia

Aiming for the Big Four

The Big Four – Deloitte, EY, KPMG and PwC – hire hundreds of new graduates each year across their audit, consultancy and tax practices in Hong Kong and Singapore. And now is the time to apply as the firms gear up to recruit for 2016 graduate jobs.

But which universities do these firms like to source their talent from in Hong Kong and Singapore? We looked through our CV database for Big Four employees working in the two cities and then examined where they went to university to produce the charts below, which show the 10 most popular institutions per firm (ranked as a percentage within the top 10).

The good news, if you’re studying locally, is that the Big Four overwhelmingly hire from local institutions – no global schools made our lists. But there’s a big variation in the popularity of various domestic universities – if you’re a graduate of the University of Hong Kong, for example, you will find Deloitte, EY, KPMG and PwC are all full of your alumni. Nanyang Technological University in Singapore – whose business school runs a well-regarded accountancy programme – also ranks in the top-two for all the firms.

Hong Kong Baptist University and Hong Kong Polytechnic University, by contrast, sit in low positions. And our charts also display the individual hiring preferences of each firm – for example, the Singapore Institute of Management has a respectable 11.5% ranking at EY, but plummets to around the 2% mark at its three rivals.
