FX hiring begins anew; demand for lenders outpacing supply

Hired2

In the latest hiring roundup, a new U.S. bond fund needs a dozen staffers, FX hiring is back in vogue and a Canadian firm eyes London expansion.

Citizens ramping up consumer hiring

Citizens Financial Group plans to hire 550 people within its consumer unit. The headcount additions will be spread across the U.S. firm’s mortgage, small-business and auto-finance units.

Senior FX staffers needed again

Banks like Citi and Bank of America are (very) slowly building back up their senior foreign exchange staff following the FX trading probe that saw more than 30 traders suspended or fired.

Lending back in vogue

With the refinancing boom a thing of the past, banks are looking to hire loan officers to drum up new business. Currently, demand is outpacing supply, leading banks like Wells Fargo to sweeten the pot for current staffers to keep them from jumping ship. Commercial lending is equally as hot.

How to get into Brevan Howard

If you’re an interest rate trader, Brevan Howard Asset Management may be a good door to knock on. The firm is shifting its focus back to interest rate trading following a poor start to the year and a sluggish 2013.

With recent negative headlines, some high-speed traders are moving to the sell-side. The latest is Simon Harris, who is leaving HFT firm Maven Securities for a MD job at Nomura.

Canadian firms eyes London expansion

Canadian investment bank Edgecrest Capital has been granted regulatory approval to operate in London. The firm is now set to hire, likely with a focus on its bread and butter – mining, energy and special situations.

New bond fund staffing up

Former Pimco exec Marc Sneider is planning a hiring spree for his own firm. Grantham Mayo Otterloo (GMO) & Co. is looking for around a dozen quantitative and fundamental analysts and portfolio managers.

Berkshire building out insurance ranks

Berkshire Hathaway is rapidly growing its new insurance business, with a particular focus on Asia. To generate interest from Warren Buffett’s firm, it’d be helpful to work at AIG. Berkshire has poached 17 execs from there in the last year.

FX Cantor’s latest focus

Cantor Fitzgerald, it seems, is always hiring. It’s latest two poaches come from Goldman Sachs, who are charged with growing the investment bank’s global forex trading business.

Tudor looking to Europe for growth opps

Hedge fund Tudor Investment continues to add talent within its European arm. With two fresh hires, the Tudor’s EU office has grown from 45 to 59 over the last year.
