7 men (and women) who’ve just started big new jobs in finance (and might have a mandate to hire soon)

Spying on hiring

If you work in banking, hiring tends to beget hiring. One new senior recruit will often beget another as that individual hires in his/her former colleagues and ‘upgrades’ the existing team.

This being the case, we’ve identified some of the most interesting finance hires of the past six months from the recruitment roundup produced by Veni Partners, the London and Paris-based executive search firm. All the individuals below are in ‘growth areas’ and should be names to watch. They may well recruit – particularly once they’ve become established in early 2015.

1. David Broadfield – Head of institutional electronic trading sales at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in North Asia, formerly of Credit Suisse.

2. Victoria Muir – Global head of Investor Relations at BlueBay Asset Management, formerly of Royal London Asset Management.

3. Anthony Diamandakis, head of the alternative assets group EMEA at Ciitgroup, formerly of Credit Suisse (where he was MD, leveraged finance and financials sponsors group).

4. Jim Spencer , head of investment banking FIG in the Americas for Credit Suisse, formerly of Lazard.

5. Richard Gosling, head of sectors at KPMG. Gosling joined from Goldman Sachs in London. A good person to know if you want to get out of banking and into the Big Four.

6. Magid Shenouda, global head of trading at commodities trading firm Mercuria, formerly co-head of commodities trading at Goldman Sachs.

7. Severan Brizay, head of investment banking EMEA at UBS, Brizay joins from JPMorgan and will be based in London. As we noted last week, UBS seems to be upgrading its M&A team and might be expected to do some more hiring soon.
