Barclays just hired this male model for its graduate program

Fergal Brady

Fergal Brady, soon to join Barclays

You don’t have to be a 6ft 2 inch male model with chiseled features and brown eyes to get a job on a bank’s graduate program, but maybe it helps.

Barclays has made an offer to Fergal Brady for 2016. Brady spent last summer as a risk and control analyst in Barclays’ investment bank. However, when he joins the bank full time, he’ll be in the Barclaycard and Personal and Corporate Banking divisions.

Alongside his finance activities, Brady has also been leveraging his physical assets. He was a model for Hollister between July 2014 and February 2015 and has signed up with Boss Model Management.

Brady isn’t the only attractive person working in the financial services industry. Christopher Pyle, a graduate trainee at Berenberg has also been a Hollister model. Florian Guth, a derivatives salesman at Deutsche in Frankfurt, has been one too.

Brady’s success follow’s a suggestion in the Financial Times that the banking industry has become ‘faceist’ and is disproportionately interested in attractive applicants.  “There are plenty of ugly people — but where do they work? Not in the City. Not at the Big Four firms,” said journalist Lucy Kellaway.
