Citadel Hires From Credit Suisse, JPMorgan

Apr 18 2008

eFinancialCareers News

Citadel Investment Group is on a hiring spree, poaching top talent from Wall Street.

Tthe Chicago-based alternative investments firm says it hired Nick Taylor away from Credit Suisse to lead its principal investments activities for Asia and Europe. Taylor co-founded and led one of Credit Suisse’s internal hedge funds, Modal Capital Partners. He worked in London, Tokyo and Hong Kong for Credit Suisse and its predecessor, Credit Suisse First Boston.

His appointment comes a month after Citadel hired JPMorgan's fixed-income chief, Patrick Edsparr, as chief executive for Citadel Europe and head of global fixed-income. Timing of that move ruffled feathers with JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon because it played out while the bank was putting together an emergency takeover of Bear Stearns, the New York Post reports

Earlier this month, Citadel said David Noh will join as head of Asian merchant banking, based in Hong Kong. Noh headed Pacific Rim principal investments for Merrill Lynch, and co-founded Merrill's Hong Kong distressed debt group in Hong Kong. A former Ernst & Young CPA, he also worked for Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong and Morgan Stanley in Korea.

A fourth recent senior-level hire at Citadel came not from Wall Street, but from another prominent hedge fund. Kaveh Alamouti, from Moore Capital, was named Citadel's head of global macro investments.
