I want to relocate to NYC or CT. Does anyone have any tips, hints, or advice for making the move?

I am currently in Colorado and wanting to move to the Northeast. Looking for advice, connections, information to help me get there. I would rather not make the move without a job, but I'm not sure if that will be possible.

  • It all depends on what your area of expertise, NY/CT could be a reasonably straight fwd move or an impossible move. Definitely don't move until you have a job lined up.......but if you are looking on Wall St, it may be hard to find the opening. Set up as many meetings as you can and then head out to the tri-state for a week. Most firms, as far as I know, are hiring on an ad-hoc basis. Most peope I know are looking beyond NYC (if they are on Wall St) and those that are working are worried about their positions.
