Local vs International Institution ? Emerging market banks vs Wall Street guys
After more than 18 Months BO/MO Experience in top tier IB -AM, looking to go back to Middle East to work in FO for a local investment firm 1) How does this impact prospects for a top tier MBA (US/UK) in 4-5 yrs? 2) Is it game over for my wall street journey? If I prove myself in a local/regional bank, can I move back to FO in wall street firm? I have a 2.1 in Engineering, and a Distinction in MSc from WBS.....no CFA but planning on level 1 this June. Hoping to get insights from the experienced crowd.

If done correctly it could be a positve move and can work out as you have laid out. To me #1 would be toughest of all steps as even Middle East is seeing it's IB and Markets crash. If you get through it would not diminish your chances to US/UK MBA. Some of the asset managers and IB (EMEA groups) are now focusing on building their Middle East operations and experitse in Islamic financing (Credit Suisse for sure and some other too). Your previuos experience in Middle East would be a strong positive for you.
