What kind of math is needed for a MSc. in Finance?

What kind of math is needed for a MSc. in Finance? (not financial engineering) Any specific branches I should go over before starting such program?

  • Depends on the program. However, a good foundation would be the entire Calculus series, Linear Algebra, Statistics preferably with Probability, Ordinary Differential Equations and Partial Differential Equations. Some computer programming wouldn't hurt either.

  • Well, my humble knoweldge is of financial mathematics courses and financial engineering , i .e the heaviest math related courses, they need linear algebra , calculus I & II , multivariable calculus (sometimes) ,differential equations (ordinary is a must , partials are program dependant) , of course programming in C++ ,but that's no math. :)
