Can Treasury analyst in company move to Corporate banking side?

Currently working in corporate banking side. If I move into industry side (treasury role of general company), later if I want to move back to banking world, will it be possible?

  • My guess would be yes. As a corporate treasury staffer, you'd be a customer of corporate banking. That could become a selling point for you later when aiming to switch back: "I've been on the customer side, so I understand the corporate customer's needs better than the next banker." Remember though that when the time comes to try and jump back into banking, as a candidate you'll be evaluated first and foremost by the amount of business you're expected to bring in. So if you leave banking for awhile, make sure you stay in contact with treasurers in other corporations who you're serving now and hope to serve again later. And if the corporation you switch to now is large enough to be a prized customer for corporate banking services, that's icing on the cake: a bank that interviews you a few years from now will expect you to bring them in as an account from the get-go.
