  • You might want to recontact the bank and mention it instead. There may be legal issues if they hire you - there are horor stories of multiple recruiters sending in the same resume and the company simply doesn't hire because of the potential legal hassles

  • In this situation what is best for you is to use the 3rd party recruiter, but the issue becomes one of their search fee. A good firm will ask if you have applied or interviewed at the firm or group. What I am interested to know is how do you know this is the same position? Most often Search Firms (unless they are retained) will not reveal who the employer is until they have had a chance to meet with you (or at least speak with you). If the group wants to hire you unless it is a particularly "uptight" firm they won't care about if you had applied in the past or not (the people who process the fees will care). Most times it is in your benefit to speak with search firms... but be suspicious of the recruiter who wants to talk only about who is in your current/last group and who else you are interviewing with. If a search firm is legit (and most are) they will be focused on the role at hand and once they have submitted you they will start getting a better picture of where else you may be interviewing and are what will it take to close the deal if you receive an offer. It is tough out there good luck...
