Career counselors are easy to find, and fairly inexpensive. Mine charged in the neighborhood of $120 for an hour-long session. (That's relatively low-end; but even the pricier ones mostly fall within 1 to 2x that figure.) They also tend to be flexible about scheduling - unlike shrinks, you won't find a career counselor or coach pressuring you to see them once a week, or at any fixed interval, for that matter - you're the customer, so you get to decide. Many have evening hours available, although some prefer to meet during business hours. A well-known nationwide organization, the Five O'Clock Club (note - when making an acronym out of it, use the numeral 5 not the letter F as the initial character, for obvious reasons), offers both group and individual coaching sessions for a bundled annual fee. That is probably the most affordable choice out there. If you want individualized attention only, many counselors in the New York metro area list on the Web site of the Career Counselors Consortium, www.careercc.org.
