I just took CIPM I exam. Any idea if this designation is aware of and in demand in the financial industry?

Answer this questionSome employers will list it as a desired qualificantion for investment performance analyst and manager positions, often along with an MBA and/or CFA. More often than not, companies looking for more than a bachelor's degree and relevant experience are mentioning the MBA and/or CFA alone as desirable qualifications, without additional mention of the CIPM. I would recommend identifying the type or types of work in which you interested both short- and medium-term and then doing research and informational interviews to determine the usefulness of the CIPM in marketing yourself for those positions.
