Answer this questionI used Securities Training Corp's materials and training classes to prepare and review for the Series 7, 63, 65, 9/10, 53 and currently 24 exams. Theirs is the most logically organized and comprehensive packages available, in my opinion. Be prepared to hit the books for a good 3 months. I highly recommend taking a review course in preparation of the Series 7 exam - it's a difficult test for most candidates and the review exams will give you a good idea of whether you're ready to take the test. If you are consistently obtaining review test scores in the 90's, then you're ready to sit for the exam. Otherwise, my only other recommendation is postponing the Series 7 exam until you are absolutely ready - it won't cost anything to postpone (as long as it's within 48 hours of the exam) plus it wouldn't be fun having to sit through a 6-hour exam more than once. Good luck and good studying.

I have tutored the series 7 before for several regional bank employees and would suggest using Kaplan/Dearborn materials. On a similar note, I would suggest NOT using the Boston Institute of Finance's book even though it is cheap. For a better review, you can check out Amazon.com.

I passed the Series 7 on three occasions as your license expires if you do not work for a broker within two or five years. Best way to study is to keep 3 x 5 index cards. On the front write COUPON and on the back write down how they get the coupon rate (market conditions, investor confidence, rating by Moody's, Tombstone advertisement, Morningstar) Series 7 has a high failure rate, you may have a hundred cards but you will pass.
