Lunchtime Links: Goldman said to absorb The Tax too

City AM’s lead story today suggests Goldman is preparing to join the ranks of Barclays Capital and Deutsche Bank in absorbing the costs of the bonus tax.

Goldman is declining to comment about the issue on the record, saying only that all will be clarified when its fourth quarter results are announced later this month. The story appears to have originated with Sky News, which ran something last night claiming Goldman’s, ‘moving towards a decision’ to absorb The Tax and ‘gross up’ the bonus pool so the bank, rather than its employees, bears the cost.
