As a US citizen, but with studies done in Europe, I was wondering what are the chances of getting hired to top firms in Finance and Consulting when you don’t come from an Ivy league college.
Question: Do graduates from Europe get hired into Finance and Consulting in the US?

Where did you study? Oxford/Cambridge then you probably have a chance, LSE maybe, any others not really. Remember that firms have many, many quality candidates for the US right at their fingertips, they won’t bother looking across the Atlantic. Studying in Europe can create an interesting topic of conversation though for Americans, which can make networking really effective; get on it!
Haha – good luck. I was born and raised in the US, left c. 8 years ago to do my undergrad at Cambridge and have been stuck in the UK ever since! Banks and recruiters in the US just won’t look at you. It’s nothing personal, it’s just the “system” over on that side of the pond (which is pretty bizarre to say the least). Your best bet is:
i) do an MBA at a top school in the US to get access into the recruiting structure (no point doing an MBA at a second tier school if you want to do IBD or top tier consulting); or
ii) wait until you are sufficiently senior (at least Director level) overseas and then try to move into a role in the US where that sort of Ivy league / MBA crap does not really matter anymore; or
iii) Get a job with a strong firm in Europe and internally transfer to the US
good luck.
