Background: undergrad – Engineering + MSc Risk Management.
I am looking to move more towards the investment side and being involved with investment strategies and preferably away from risk. How likely is this given the current job climate? Any recruiter I speak to is interested in credit risk roles or smaller firms looking for graduate level (which pay less) and internal moves seem to be limited for someone with only a years experience. My question really boils down to, should I jump ship now and take what I can or will exit opps be better a year down the line?

As 2011 grad that means you can’t have been in the role more than 6 months absolute tops. Why are you looking to move and why did you go into Risk in the first place if you are looking to move so quickly? if you are on a formal grad programme I would try to stay where you are, at least untill you are a year into the programme as any move so quickly says you were either rubbish at the job, or unfocussed neither of which are good.
