Hello all,
I am just wondering what’s the best way to find IT jobs in the financial sector. I have over 7 years of experiences working as an System Admin and IT Support roles. I have a degree in Computer Science (2.1) and now looking for a career change.
I am also thinking of taking a year out and do MSc course. Do you have any advice on this? What kind of course will be suitable? I don’t want to do programming as there are already too many in the market and I don’t enjoy that much.
Your input will be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks,
Jen

Hi Jen,
You’ll find it easiest to get an IT job in finance if you know something already about financial products. From this point of view, you could pro-actively study for some of the qualifications offered by the Securities and Investment Institute (http://www.cisi.org/bookmark/genericform.aspx?form=29848780&URL=syllabuses). If you want to do an MSc, UCL offers courses which are adapted to financial markets and backed by leading banks (http://fc.cs.ucl.ac.uk/).
