  1. One option is to continue your education with further professional actuarial qualifications to ultimately become an actuary with a view to perhaps working in Asset Liability Management (ALM) or Liability Driven Investment (LDI) focused roles with an Asset Manager, Investment Bank or perhaps Investment Consultancy. I would suggest the former two maybe the most financial rewarding however the consultancy option may be the easiest point of entry and does not prevent you from moving into an investment house further down the line. Many senior heads within the investment management “solutions” sector are actuaries and have worked for investment consultancies.

In simple terms Insurance and Pension ALM seeks to address the risks faced by a mismatch between assets and liabilities and broadly involves determining and implementing an investment strategy that will mitigate those risks using a blend of traditional and derivative based products in a strategy not dissimilar to that of a long short hedge fund.

    I hope that helps.
