Question: Worth moving to Singapore?

HI,

I am an ACCA graduate working with Tesco Stores Limited as a trainee deputy branch manager. I am contemplating a move to SIngapore so that I can get into accountancy/audit industry,

I am confused about the viability of the option and the main reason is how can I find a sponsor from Singapore. I have registered at various websites but have not been approached yet.

What is the best approach?

    Given the global job market and how attractive certain Asian locations are at the moment you will need to be less passive in your efforts if you would like to relocate. Are you absolutely sure the grass will be greener in Singapore?
    Generally I would guess it is fairly unlikely that someone will knock on your door (or anyone elses) thought there are a couple of growing websites that seem quite effective at tying MNC’s into the cream of the grad market. I would recommend checking directly with the firms you would like to work for to see if they have active sponsorship, High Potential or other MT schemes in place for someone with your background. Before you begin on that think about what you would like to achieve, what is your perfect outcome and the steps to get there?. What are the barriers and what solutions can you implement to overcome them. Imagine 1,000 other people aiming for a similar result as you are and what approach, strategy or action you can take to stand out, jump the queue and be noticed. It will take time and perseverence but you will be able to get to Singapore if it is what you really want.
