Before I was a headhunter, I worked in a firm which had included an IDB. It is a very customer facing role, so a very specific sort of personality thrives in this environment. Thick skin, rapid response, encyclopedic knowledge of sport and not having an allergy to alcohol will help. Also you must be dilligent, one head of a broking firm I know used to make newbies do long arithmetic. Not that you’d ever do this in real life, but it was a good test that many failed.
