I don’t have experience with neither of the two software packages but my Uni is giving me an opportunity to learn them free of cost. I really can’t learn both of them, its not possible hence I have to choose between two which the industry uses/prefers. Which one do you guys recommend? Please share your views…
Question: Uni student requests info : Matlab or Mathematica ?

UK

*either
Matlab – though I myself would go for ‘Secret Option C’ – a girlfriend and/or hobby. Here’s another question for the boards; What would be more useful, Matlab, an MSc, or a decent set of biceps?
Matlab will give you a better change of getting into high frequency and algotrading.
Matlab seems to be asked for in job specs a lot more so I would go with that
As a current, mature MSc student with 6 years in the City and 1 in NY in all honesty I would recommend learning a few decent jokes/anecdotes. They will get you much further than knowing how to detect heteroscedasiscity.
should be ok
@nic2shah & Pheasant : Thanks a lot for your useful comments.
Matlab for sure
