Question: How to start a career in investment banking?. I have completed the course of CIMA.

I am currently working as an accountant in a big Hospitality Company. I am very much interested to start a career in investment banking .

  1. There is always demand for accountants. I would start by contacting some of the larger agencies such as Michael Page, Robert Walters etc. They will have a good idea of vacancies at the moment. Your timing is not great becuase most banks are reducing headcount or have hiring freezes. You might be better waiting till early 2009 when things may have impoved slightly. good luck

  2. One typical route could be into a middle office role and build your network inside the bank if you want to move into the front office internally.
