Three small brokerage houses that we know to be hiring

If you’re a fixed income trader or salesperson in London at the moment, you may be feeling spoilt for choice. Morgan Stanley is hiring. So is UBS. So is Execution. And so is Evolution. However, if none of these take your fancy, we happen to know that the houses below are hiring too.

1) Stormharbour

What is it?

A fixed income brokerage founded Antonio Cacorino, former co-head of global investor sales at Citigroup, and Fredrick Chapey, another Citigroup veteran.

Who are they hiring?

Stormharbour is in the process of staffing-up significantly. COO Terry Keeley says London headcount is currently 43 and that they’re aiming for 70-80. They’ve also opened an office in Geneva, where they’ll be looking for 6-8 people, and are opening offices in Singapore and Hong Kong. Keeley says they’re looking for a combination of junior and experienced staff, across sales, structuring, and capital markets.

2) Amias Berman & Co.

What is it? An agency broker founded by former heads of fixed income at Citigroup.

Who are they hiring? : COO Paul Thompson won’t give us numbers, but says they’re “certainly still hiring,” and that they’re looking for salespeople and analysts across a range of areas including ABS and CDOs. “We’re being opportunistic,” he says.

4) Conduit Capital Markets

What is it? An independent dealer with a specialist focus on structured products, founded in 2006 by a former head of derivatives sales and marketing from RBS.

Who are they hiring? Conduit recently hired a new CFO. The ‘office manager’ tells us they’re still looking for salespeople. Unfortunately, they’re only after “one or two.”
