Another eFinancialCareers reader has bravely put forward their CV for some (constructive) criticism in a bid to enhance their job-hunting potential. Below is their profile (with all personal details removed) and little about their search for new employment so far. Can you offer some tips about where they may have been going wrong and what, exactly, can be improved about their CV?
I am looking to move to the Middle East in order to diversify my current work experience geographically. Currently, I’m working for a tier one investment bank in London in a market risk IT position. This involves managing a team of three people and taking responsibility for the delivery of a market risk software solution for fixed income products.
I’m looking for a position in a market risk IT role within an investment bank, or to work for a sovereign wealth fund either as a project manager or IT business analyst specialising in the design, implementation and delivery of credit or market risk software.
I’ve only been looking for a few weeks, so I wouldn’t consider my search unsuccessful. I’m looking for tips on how to tailor my CV for the Middle East market.

Dont switch from the city to the gulf…its not worth the tax free money.
stay in the city!
To be honest, the sort of skills and experience you have isn’t particularly in demand over here. Most international banks carry out this development work elsewhere, and the local ones are not yet sophisticated enough.
Pls in my view your current work enviourment is much sophisticated than gulf…you’ll have be prepared to degrade your profile in a big way…it is extremely recommended not to be lured with tax free income which after indirect ways of recovering wealth is far more than paying taxes…
I am in the gulf for the last five years and if time goes back I wouldn’t have come to this place . Everything here is artificial even people . Many of the senior people here are just bubbles . You will not enjoy and after sometime you will feel that you stuck in this place.
Stick where you äre “the real life “and take the advice .
