Yes....given that I haven't been very busy last year.....

Is your bonus big enough this year?

Have you got your bonus this year, or do you at least know how much it will be?
And if so, are you stratified with the amount and how it is structured?

Did you get too much stock? Was the cash component too low? And has it been deferred over too long a period?

Are you annoyed that your Asian bonus took a blow because of policies dreamed up by your bank’s head office in the US or Europe? Was the UK bonus tax spread across your whole firm, thus affecting you?

Are you unhappy enough to jump ship when you get your hands on the cash?

Let us know your thoughts on these many bonus-related questions below.

  1. Deferrals are getting more common across the industry, so it’s hard to distinguish banks on this basis – you have to look below bonus policy when choosing a job these days

  2. for those of us out of work still I have too words: who cares.
Count yourself lucky to have survived the gfc with a job

  3. With hiring picking up, if you don’t like your firm’s bonus policy, try to move elsewhere. Don’t feel trapped

  4. I like your comments.. my increment and bonus is miserable…
currently feel trapped… maybe it is time to move on…

  5. miserable increment and bonus is better than nothing, deferred increment and bonus is better than never come, the worst is you should have it but someone took it away!

  6. No bonus for me last year as I was on contract after being retrenched. I will be lucky if I get an increment after I am confirm by this new firm I am working for.

  7. bonuses are only for senior management and front office. at least that is how i see it with my employer

  8. Yes….given that I haven’t been very busy last year…..
